Seafarers Awareness Week (6-12 June) to Highlight 'Sea Blindness'
Co-ordinated by Seafarers UK the leading maritime welfare charity that helps people who are serving or have served in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets and their families in times of need.
Seafarers Awareness Week runs from the 6th to the 12th of June this year, its aims are to make the public more aware of the dangers these people face on a daily basis.
For hundreds of years the services mentioned have served this country in times of war and peace.
This island nation of ours depends and has always depended on the ships and crews that keep us safe and the ships and crews that bring us our food, goods and fuel from around the world.
The Dormanstown & Redcar Branch of the Merchant Navy Association fully support Seafarers UK in their attempt to bring the public back on board so they will always appreciate the important work seafarers do, their everyday risks, challenges and stresses and their welfare needs during and after employment and those of their dependents.
